you
had a ring on your finger
still
i couldn’t help but linger
and
stare into your windswept eyes
repeating
all our soft goodbyes
at
work i’d watched you from afar
then
one night at a local bar
our
whole office in the tower
went
to meet for happy hour
within
a drink they all went home
and
you and i were left alone
i
walked you to your foreign car
and
made a wish upon a star
you
had somewhere you had to be
but
said you often thought of me
i
needed no more words then those
to
kiss your lips of silken rose
but it
was time to beat the clock
for a
marriage that you now mocked
but my
warm hands inside your cloak
and
soft farewells that you still spoke
the
magic of that moment weaved
memories
that will never leave
but in
that night is were they’ll stay
and
while at work we earn our pay
although
the feelings still persist
on
longing shared we will subsist
