battles
for humanity
christ
rebukes satan in the desert
tells
the religious order
“the
kingdom of heaven is among you”
apollo
and zephyrus fought over hyacinth
now
his fragile form flows in the wind
we
are constrained
told
to restrain
to
the victor belong the spoils
joy
in devotion?
i
can only assume that no one is devout
all
science can offer
is
stardust parenting
and
a star that will one day
become
the bringer of death
all
religions are a replication
history
a prognostication
pain
is our past
misery
our present
confusion
our future
and
love is either a verb
or
a four letter word
water
finds its own level
and
there we rest
the
young think life a contest
the
old nap with their chin on chest
our
actions serve as evidence
of
what we believe has meaning
but
we never question what meaning is
status
quo is in tow
and
most of us accept
the
given acceptance of the divine
without
being able to draw a straight line
between
anything that gives our actions
real
meaning beyond being just a reaction
and
when our unreinforced foundations
shake
at the first shudder from those
who
are not of the same mind
we
become unkind
in
our self preservation
judging
with indignation
it
is easier for the mind to be lazy
then
contrary and crazy
yet
words we will write
defining
dark and light
and
not one word written or read
has
filled a hungry table with bread
or
made this or any day
a
little bit easier
