i’ve walked the entire length
of this city without strength
there are those who think they
are relevant
as if the cosmos would notice
if they couldn’t blink
i don’t know why you bother to
bother me
you either have never listened
or you just don’t understand
we do not share the same
universe
because you cannot perceive
an existence that ends when you
die
no heaven, no reincarnation
no god
and all the implications of
existence
without these things
and why i always respond to
your chatter
with “it doesn’t matter”
and that is why i roam
tonight i turned left down a
street
tomorrow i may turn right
go home and read quantum
mechanics
then go for another walk
and stroll past the grand
opening
the red ribbon
and think that it is already in
decay
already approaching disorder
solar winds or santa anas
eventually it all just blows
away
