they say i can’t change things

so i need to change myself

 

because being them should be attained

their thoughts filter the acid rain

 

pathways to happiness

are paved with illusions

 

i may not be enlightened

but neither are you

 

your god is not god

because there is no god

 

your truth is not truth

because there is no truth

 

if you believe that two plus two must equal four

then you deserve what you have settled for

 

if you were at peace then you would let me be

contentment does not need me to believe

 

i don’t want you to be me

but conversely i could never be you

 

i am not afraid

even shadows rest in the shade

 

one size does not fit all

legitimacy is not established by roll calls

 

just leave me to go my way

on these dark streets of decay
