abandon

the stars above the boulevard at hollywood and vine
are shinning like a hallmark card you send at valentine’s
the neon signs which advertise by changing their design
illuminate with different hues as we go walking by
hand in hand i lead you to a storefront concrete wall
caress your cheek and whisper words enveloped in enthrall
with the beauty of your face and softness of your lips
i slip my hand behind your head and move in for a kiss
your mouth has opened like a rose that blooms within warm springs
our tongues connect while you envelope me in feathered wings
and hold me tighter than the earth holds us with gravity
and love finds freedom in the birth of such captivity
the kiss goes deeper than the depths that no one else has breached
lasting longer than the stars that time has yet to reach
the sidewalk crowd gives a wide berth as we go up in flames
for there is nothing on this earth as wild and untamed
as both my hands begin to graze the wealth and wilderness
of your landscape i appraise as eden in its bliss
we so forget the clock of time that when we re-emerge
all poetry returns to rhyme and l.a.’s on the verge
of raindrops seeping from the clouds that quietly rolled in
they start to drop and so we stop and get soaked to the skin
as we kiss amid the rain relentless as a fire
all its efforts are in vain in dousing our desire
