the artist within

the artist within is the lifestyles

          of the young and aimless

you try to be what they say

          you should be

because the alternative is        

          a downward spiral into

          the artist within

 

that spiral is a long, slow spin

a whirlpool from which

          there is no escape

drowning in a drain

          is all that remains

if all you are is

          the artist within

 

and i can offer no solution

the battle within just brings confusion

i try so hard to never win

but lately fear the artist within

          is all that i’m becoming
