valedictorian of love

kiss me like you mean it – the magnetic fields

her whispered breath will resurrect the journey into spring

on cloudy days she finds a way to make the joy bells ring

and light the night ten times as bright as any moon and stars

and outshine all the neon lights on any boulevard

beyond compare i cannot stare at anything but her

i find my meaning in the day when from her sleep she stirs

my bucket list is one more kiss before i close my eyes

i dream about her every night and wake up satisfied

the fortune that we long to know when we are in our youth

is not the thing that will bestow what i’ve found in this truth

that nothing can redeem the heart except her emerald eyes

in her embrace the lines i trace were written by the wise

distracted by her beauty till i think of nothing else

ecstatic with contentment is the only thing i’ve felt

so let your passion burn for things your fingers cannot hold

i’ll sing like birds which herald spring and never feel the cold
