the day the sun stood still

the sun submerged its southern tip into the salty sea

i asked to kiss your silken lips and therein you agreed

that i could kiss you till the sun had sunk behind the waves

i quickly pressed my lips to yours before time slipped away

so lost within the ecstasy of your lips pressed to mine

i didn’t see the sweet mercy which came from the divine

for when you finally pulled away so you could gasp for air

where the sun was it had remained and hung without a care

and i reminded you you’d said until the sun had set

the grace displayed upon that day i never will forget
